NEW CURRENCY FOR CURACAO AND ST. MAARTEN
Curacao and (Dutch) St. Maarten began the transition from the Antillean Guilder (NAf or ANG) to the Caribbean Guilder (Cg or XCG) on March 31, 2025. From now on, the Caribbean Guilder is the legal tender in both countries. All prices, invoices, statements, receipts etc. will be in the new currency (XCG). The XCG has replaced the Antillean Guilder at the same exchange rate of 1 USD = 1.79 XCG.
The Caribbean guilder coins have been issued in the following denominations: 5 guilders, 1 guilder, 50 cents, 25 cents, 10 cents, 5 cents and 1 cent. For banknotes, the denominations are 200 guilders, 100 guilders, 50 guilders, 20 guilders and 10 guilders.
Curacao and St. Maarten, both countries within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, have a joint Central Bank and a joint currency. In the Kingdom of the Netherlands, there are four different currencies: in the Netherlands it is the Euro, on Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba the U.S. Dollar, in Aruba the Aruban Guilder (florin) and in Curaçao and St. Maarten the Caribbean Guilder.

PS
If you want to know more about why the ‘X’ is part of the unique three-letter code, check out the publication of the International organization for Standardization: ISO 4217:2015, that specifies the structure for a three-letter alphabetic code and an equivalent three-digit numeric code for the representation of currencies. This has to do with the fact that the new currency is not associated with a single geographical entity (as meant in ISO 3166-1).
