THINK LIKE A LAWYER, ACT LIKE A DIPLOMAT, OR VICE VERSA?
Negotiating your way through life
What do presidents, diplomats, housekeepers, attorneys, kids, CEOs and second-hand car dealers have in common? They all negotiate in order to get what they want.
Negotiating your way through life. It all starts when you are born. A baby’s negotiating power comes from his mouth; when used by adults it is described as the cry baby tactic. Before adulthood you negotiate with your parents about pocket-money, getting toys or a scooter. It is then that you realize that size and power do matter. You develop skills and tactics. You will need those skills (and tactics) …

BURGERS & BROEDERS
Nieuw boek Dr. Peter Verton

THE VOTER AND THE ELECTED
The will of the people?
Politicians are usually depicted as unreliable. And that is not without reason. But at least as big a problem are the voters in a democracy. Voters come literally in all shapes and sizes. This diversity is in itself well and good. Diversity can keep us morally tight and ensures that along with their own qualities people can bring something about in society that would otherwise not be possible. If that diversity would not have developed over centuries, we would still live as nomadic hunters. In his book ‘Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human …
