On 7 April 2025, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Netherlands, Dr. Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut, presented in Curaçao to Honorary Consul Dr. Karel Frielink, the Cross of Merit with Ribbon of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
